but doing strictly kipping to get a good time is just wrong to me. your cheating yourself. my back workout consists of 144 pullups in 12 sets of 12. right now, for the first 6 sets im doing perfect form. then to complete the remaining reps i start to do a slight kip. and because of that "working as hard as i can for as long as i can" i couldn't be happier with my gains. Ive done Crossfit workouts asking for a high number or pullups before without kipping or butterflying.

true its not a strict pull up, but the goal of a kipping pull ups Is to perform the prescribed reps as quickly as possible to get your heart rate jacked and increase metabolic conditioning.
